LEGO NXT Robot Rumble

What is it?

Introduction to Robotics: LEGO NXT Robot Rumble is intended to introduce students in grades 5-8 to the basics of LEGO Robotics, including construction, modification, and logical reasoning.  Students will rise to the challenge of building and programming LEGO NXT robots using computer software.  Students' observational, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills will be stretched!  As the weeks progress, students will practice with guided builds and programming tasks, each building upon the concepts of the last.

Who is it for?

Students in grades 5-8 with interest in LEGO and robotics.  Familiarity with computers is highly recommended.  Students should be strong independent readers.  (Participation in this course is considered a prerequisite for the Advanced Robotics class, which is available to students in grades 6 and up.)

When is it?

This course is typically offered once during the school year in the spring. Classes meet on Tuesdays.

Final Challenge: "Robot Rumble"

The construction and programming challenges the students face over the course of the class are meant to enable them to design, construct, and program their own "battle bot" to participate in the much-loved "Robot Rumble" tournament on the final day of class.

Teachers, parents, and siblings are welcome to attend on Robot Rumble Day!

How do I sign up?
